Your wondering what that is a picture of aren’t you? Well is the quality repair done to the hot water pipe in the bathroom. See the problem is if you had of turned on the hot water tap in this bathroom(there is no hot water system connected in this bathroom which is off the living room) the water would flow backwards and somehow flow out thru the wall …by the way the wall as you can see if made of cement!.
Well while I was away the USA a certain person, who will remain unnamed decided he would come into check on things. For some reason he needed to test the taps, so he turned on the hot water tap on the sink. Now nothing will come out, so he just thought oh well, no need to turn off the tap, I will just leave it open….and leave now. Of course this is the natural thing to do isn’t it?(read sarcasm here)
So this was on a Friday, the maid comes in 2 days later to find the place a mess, water everywhere and the wall oozing water as is the ceiling in the bathroom.
They find that the reason for the leak is when they have installed the false ceiling in the bathroom, they have put a nail into the water pipe. Now of course the water pipe would normally be embedded into the wall so this shouldn’t have posed a problem, but not here, the water pipe was hiding just under the surface.
Now this repair, lets get back to it. Its unique I think and ingenious, I don’t know any normal repair person who would do this but look at it. The water pipe, the green pipe is PVC, the repair or join is metal! Who would think of that! I know it would never cross my mind to join a plastic pipe with a piece of metal pipe. You can also see how they have joined it, yes thats mud from the garden upstairs mixed with cement they have used as a sort of glue…. and no it doesnt hold, I already tested it and the pipe joint leaks.
