I think the main difference here is you are in one of the normal cities, Kolkata even as the locals say isnt normal, and its seen as very backwards and stuck in a time warp.

So for our dogs India isnt good, for us personally its great. As the job is good and the money is good. There are some problems but they arent big, but than can be expected when you are a foreigner.

Personally I will be here for another 18 mths, its just that Cindy and the geriatric animal children will be in Florida.

dont like india huh? give it a little more time. i hated it in the beginning, and I cant say I love it. but we have a nice house, (not flat), and great great staff which we found after sacking loads of people, and my dogs loooooooooove india now. never a lonely moment for them, garden, i leave them with the staff and travel to bangkok, colombo, goa, maldives, you name it.

but i can see why you want to leave–totally.

we are british, living in bangalore. dont give up so fast.
