    Hi,

My friend will be coming to India in a few more weeks with a dog and, since I am in India, I was wondering whether I could arrange for the NOC certificates for my friend. Does the NOC certificate have any contact phone number on them where I can call?

    Thanks,
    Prabal.

Anothing thing which I missed out on – my friend’s dog is a seizure dog and hence falls under the service dogs category. Do you know if any extra documents are needed for such a dog or not?

    Thanks.

The NOC comes from the Quarantine Officer at the airport, I think you might be able to get one yourself, but I doubt it. I think that there is a secret handshake deal with a couple of customs brokers in each city and only these people can help you get it, but it cant hurt to go to the airport find Quarantine and ask them, if you cant get it directly I am sure they will have a friend who can help you.

Nope still falls under the NOC needs, I think if it was travelling as freight a service dog would get some exemption from import duties….

No one is going to care if you bring in 3 dogs, but if they are small you can only take one in the cabin of the aircrat with you. I hope you can find some decent flights into India with minimal stops….you should being in Shanghai, unless you are coming into somewhere like Kolkata.

Do you have a recommendation on someone who can get the noc docs. I have a flight from dfw to del in dec. also I am having trouble getting a clear answer on the health certificate can it be filled out by the vet and just has to get the stamp from usda within 10 days of flight or do I have to wait to have the vet fill it out on the 10th day before becuase my 10th day befor dept. is thanksgiving so I lose a lot of time if i have to get it done after. BTW your site has been very helpful thanks for all the info you posted.

Hi, good time of year to travel with a pet to Delhi, as its nice and cool. For the docs I know that my friends at Jetair here in Kolkata can get you the docs and put the arrangements in place. I am pretty sure its about the same price as the agents in Delhi, email them at info@jetex-oceanair.com . Mention that you got the info from Chris in Kolkata. If they cant help they will put you in touch with someone who can.

The 10th day thing, just WITHIN the 10 days of travel get your vet to sign the certificates and then go to the USDA to get it stamped and registered. You cant get it done any sooner as the USDA will reject it.

Good luck in Delhi… get ready for the smog, its bad at the moment I can only see about 100m outside this morning from my hotel room.

    Hi there Chris,

We will be taking our dog to Mumbai in Dec this year (just going on vacation and not relocation) and am aware of all the paperwork needed, including USDA stamp and NOC. What I am a bit confused about is the timing on when to get these items.

Some sites say that the health certificate needs to be valid within 10 days of travel, which means I have to get the certificate, get is USDA stamped and also get India NOC all within 10 days?? That sounds too much of a touch and go situation. I am in contact with a local Mumbai pet import agency (furryflyers.com) to help with NOC; but I do not know if all of the above can be completed in just 10 days. I saw your comments above on this thread and you do mention within 10 days….

    Please advise,

    Thank you,

    Anuj

Sorry no reply was away on vacation in the USA. But yes you do need all that done within 10days, the USDA I dont think will do it outside of the 10 day period also.

    Hi,

Advise to all. Here is my suggestion i personally spoke to Quartine officer they said they never charge single penny or Rupees for NOc for any animal but agents are charging between 400$ to 800$. so what i advise you is obtain the address of animal quartine officer in google serach call them and ask about your doubts. they dont charge any money but since youa re going though pet travel agents. They are making profit out of your money. If you have friend or any relative in India they them to apply for NOC providing your details about Government issued veterinary certificate from the exporting country USDA document with the Annexure I/II in case of USA)
Flight details / confirmation of the passenger’s travel into India / Copy of the airway bill
    Veterinary Certificate.

Thats all then your friend can apply and send through as an attachment in an email that simple it is!

    Great info!

I found here in Kolkata trying to find the guy who could write the NOC was a nightmare, when he was meant to be in the airport office he wasn’t, when he was in the actual office he wasn’t, it was like chasing your tail, and he wouldn’t talk to anyone on the phone it had to be in person!

So I found paying the handler was worth it as they sent people to both offices and chased the man down , expensive yes, value for money…no, but it sure did make it all easier and one less headache to worry about.

Would I pay someone again to do it?? if I was out of the country yes, if I was here personally yeah I would chase the man down myself.

Surprisingly too the Quarantine and Animal people seem to be not corrupt at all as you found out !
